Importance of May (Rant)

May is a very important month for me for several reasons. I was told I had PCOS four years ago May 2008. And from them like most women with PCOS I was given Metformin. I took this for a year. And all the way up to the last months I was taking it, I was still experiencing the same side effects that people who just started Metformin were having, so I stopped taking it. So in May 2009 my doctor switched me over to birth control pills. I’m not really sure what brand it was or what ever, I didn’t know much about PCOS to begin with. I just took it because my doctor told me to. There is no cure and basically this is the next best thing to being “normal.”

I guess to them normal was just a word that meant regular periods. But that was it. I didn’t feel normal at all. And I talked to my doctor about how I felt about taking pills for the rest of my life (not happy) and the doctor seemed like I was putting a huge load on their hands. She advised me to “work” with her by trying to lose weight.

For those of you who actually read my posts (previous ones) I did take birth control pills for two years with exercise and trying to eat healthy and I gained weight rather than losing it. So in May 2011 I decided that I didn’t want to do this any more. I stopped seeing me doctor (I know I know crazy but people do crazy things) AND I stopped taking birth control. In May 2011 I told myself I would do this on my own. Eat right, exercise right, and not rely and drugs to get me where I need to be. And up till now starting from May 2011 I..

-lost over 30lbs

-have had a regular period EVERY month

-built muscle AND endurance

-gained confidence in myself

-ate LIKE A BOSS (a healthy boss)

I wasn’t craving junk foods like I used to, I joined a fitness club at my school. I feel good about myself. That I’m actually doing it. So this May (2012) I am making new goals for myself, for this summer. Not just for my physical but also my mental health. 

This is why May is important to me. An important turning point in my life…

Oh yeah and my birthday is in May (the 29th) turning 21   \ >.< /  (yayy)

Squat Challenge…

So I have been doing this squat challenge for the past 4 days and the back of my thighs and butt are mad tight. Hurts to sit certain ways which is weird lol. I do wanna note that I’m doing power squats (Insanity Style), which is probably contributing to all the pain. Hopefully I see some lift soon. Maybe one day my booty look like Nicki Minaj’s…..
